squealing shower

Sometimes when we turn on the shower it squeals and will eventually stop. Is this something major???Thanks

That's not a whole lot of information....but it is not likely a major problem. More than likely it's caused by the shower control valve and could be repaired with a new new cartridge, seats, grease or cleaning depending on the make of the control.

Well it is just when you turn on the water and pull up on the lever to activate the shower it makes a really loud whinning noise which eventually stops. Where would the new cartridge go? Thanks

Right behind the handle. You will have to turn off the water first and look for the manufactures literature for your valve, IE moen, delta...
They both offer free replacements if required.
